Facebook Contest!

Family or Child Portrait Shoot Giveaway!

With my love of all things family fun I thought it would be a great kick-off to Spring to have a giveaway!

Update – Thank you to all who entered the photo contest, the entering is now closed, please stay tuned for the facebook gallery.

This giveaway is for an Environmental Child or Family Portrait Session by Hilary Argentieri Photography. For Friends and Fans that have seen my work or worked with me you know I adore these real moments captured in a natural photojournalist style.

After Tuesday I will post all entries to a gallery on my professional facebook page. The photo that gets the most “Likes” by June 3rd will win the shoot – plus an extra gift from me:)

This is a fun way to capture those faces, those precious laughs, those moments that mean the most.

All families and kids are welcome, the shoot will take place in a Rochester agreed upon location but feel free to enter if you are from out of town. Please note this is for immediate family only (parents and children or only children) – even if your kids are all grown up it is ALWAYS wonderful to preserve memories so please enter.

Let’s have some fun!

A reminder to all my artist friends…

Yesterday my brother-in-law Greg (who is proudly serving in Iraq) sent me this quote by Martha Graham.
I think every artist needs to be reminded of this…

” There is a vitality,
a life force,
an energy,
a quickening that is translated through you into action,
and because there is only one of you in all of time,
this expression is unique.

And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost.
The world will not have it.

It is not your business to determine how good it is
nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions.
It is your business to keep it yours,
clearly and directly,
to keep the channel open.”

I love this! It is so true. We are lucky that so many of life’s truths are so simple.

Happy Mother’s Day! (What you’re doing matters)

Happy Mother’s Day to my very own amazing and wonderful mother (Cindy Gallese)! I don’t think I can ever thank you enough for teaching me to write my own story…

An essay by Katherine Center to share with all you amazing mother’s out there!

WHAT I WOULD TELL HER: (If I knew what to say.)

You are a miracle.

And I have to love you this fiercely: So that you can feel it even after you leave for school, or even while you are asleep, or even after your childhood becomes a memory.

You’ll forget all this when you grow up. But it’s okay.

Being a mother means having your heart broken.

And it means loving and losing and falling apart and coming back together.

And it’s the best there is. And also, sometimes, the worst.

Sometimes you won’t have anyone to talk to.

Sometimes you’ll wonder if you’ve forgotten who you are.

But you must remember this: What you’re doing matters.

And you have to be brave with your life so that others can be brave with theirs.

The truth is, being a woman is a gift. Tenderness is a gift. Intimacy is a gift. And nurturing the good in this world is a nothing short of a privilege.

That’s why I have to love you this way. So I can give what I have to you. So that you can carry it in your body and pass it on.

I have watched you sleep. I’ve kissed you a million times. And I know something that you don’t, yet:

You are writing the story of your only life every single minute of every day.

And my greatest hope for you, sweet child, is that I can teach you how to write a good one.

Hilary thanks for sharing! As I write this with tears in my eyes and love for all my children, and grandchildren and nieces a nephews, but especially how meaningful for Domenic it certainly depicts everything that Anne was and always will be, and it especially enhances the loving person that he has found for his soul mate and most importantly the Mother of his two gorgeous girls. Love always
